It seems that you would go back to an old home where you probably felt safe in order to find answers. You are seeking help with these "mushrooms" that have in your mind taken over your life and you can't escape it. It seems you want to escape it or you wouldn't be trying to find help for it. The military could represent the time in your life that it may have started for you or just simply be a symbol to someone that you trust and go to when you are looking for answers or to talk.
